Equine Physiotherapy with RVP

Whether you have a competitive athlete or a retired "happy hacker," physiotherapy is essential for maintaining your horse’s musculoskeletal health. Because horses are masters at masking discomfort, regular assessments are key to catching compensatory patterns before they lead to lameness.

Common Conditions We Support:

  • Performance Issues: such as Reluctance to canter on a specific rein, "girthiness," or knocking poles.
  • Spinal Health: such as Kissing Spines (management and post-op), sacroiliac dysfunction, and neck stiffness.
  • Injury Rehab: including Tendon/ligament strains and muscle tears.
  • Maintenance: Helping senior horses stay mobile and comfortable.

How The Session Runs:

  • Vet Liaison: We handle the admin! We contact your vet for history and consent to ensure a safe, multi-disciplinary approach.

  • The Observation: We begin by observing your horse in their stable or field. How are they standing? Are they "pointing" a toe or resting a limb unusually? We take the time to let them sniff our kit and settle.

  • Comprehensive Assessment: We observe your horse standing and in movement (walk/trot) to identify asymmetries. We check soft tissues, joints, spine, and neurological responses.

  • Treatment: A bespoke mix of manual therapy (massage, myofascial release), electrotherapies (LASER, PEMF), and remedial exercises.

  • The Plan: You’ll receive a tailored home exercise programme via Equicantis, featuring clear video instructions.

Investment:

Equine Initial Assessment

£85

Equine follow up treatment

£69

Travel charges may apply depending on location. All assessments include a written report and a tailored home exercise plan.

Frequently Asked Questions

Please reach us at rechargevetphysio@gmail.com  if you cannot find an answer to your question.

Under the Veterinary Surgeons Act 1966, we require veterinary consent before treating any horse with an injury or underlying condition. For routine maintenance (performance checks for sound horses), we don't always need a formal referral, but we always keep your vet in the loop as part of our professional standards.

Yes! Most major equine insurance providers cover physiotherapy when performed by a qualified professional (like us) and recommended by a vet. You usually pay us directly and then claim the "investment" back from your insurer using the receipt we provide. We don't charge for processing claims.

We come to you. Treating your horse at their home yard ensures they are relaxed and moving naturally in their own environment.

We recommend your horse has at least 24–48 hours of rest or light movement (like turnout) after a session to allow their body to process the treatment. It’s best not to ride right before the session so their muscles aren't fatigued or masked by exercise-induced endorphins.

Yes, absolutely. We believe that the work you do between our visits is where the real transformation happens.

To make this as easy as possible, we use Equicantis, a leading clinical management platform. Following our session, you will receive a digital link where you can access:

  • A Detailed Report: A summary of our findings, including muscle tension areas and movement assessments.
  • Step-by-Step Exercise Plans: No more trying to remember exactly where to place your hands!
  • High-Quality Videos & Diagrams: Clear visual demonstrations of each remedial exercise to ensure you are performing them safely and effectively.
