Physiotherapy treatment starts with liaison with your vet. We will contact your vet to get up to date with your pet's history, medications and ensure your vet is on board with physio treatment for your pet. Improving your pets movement is only possible when all of the team are on the same page and working towards the same goals. Don't worry, our admin team will organise this - you won't need to lift a finger!
Once we have the green light from your vet, we can go ahead and book your pet's initial assessment. Lana works on a consent based approach, meaning your pet is never forced to ensure something they aren't comfortable with right now. Usually, the humans will have a chat so you can fill us in on all the details, giving your pet a chance to have a good sniff and some treats. Being in their own home usually means your pet feels more confident to approach.
Once your pet is relaxed with us in their home, we can begin the assessment. Comprehensive physiotherapy assessment includes postural, movement, joints, spinal, neurological and muscle assessment amongst other details.
This enables us to build up a picture of problem areas and chains of compensation. By identifying these, we can work backwards to restore your pet's movement. We can then make a plan for physiotherapy frequency and home exercises.
You will receive a detailed report of all findings and easy to follow home exercise plan. We use Equicantis (https://equicantis.com) to provide our owners with clear video instructions.
Physiotherapy treatment combines the use of manual therapies such as soft tissue work and stretching to release, remedial exercise to rebalance and strengthen (think pet pilates!) and electrotherapies (such as LASER, ultrasound, pulsed electromagnetic field therapy) to stimulate tissue healing and recovery.
Together, let's restore your pet's joy in movement.
Please note, these prices come into effect from 01/01/25.
